HBTC Kicking Off National Apprenticeship Week at Goole High School

MP Andrew Percy met with staff from Goole High School on Monday to mark the start of National Apprenticeship Week. Ms Joanna Henderson from the National Apprenticeship Service and Mr Martin Knight and Mrs Amy O'Sullivan from Hull Business Training Centre joined the group to talk about Apprenticeships; who is eligible, how it is funded and the very practical nature of the taught framework.

Ten support staff at Goole High School have recently started the Adult Advanced Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, which includes the Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, along with functional skills in English, Maths and ICT. Eight administration staff are now embarking on the Adult Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration, which includes the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business and Administration, along with the Level 3 Certificate in Business Administration Principles and Practice and functional skills in English and Maths.

In the last academic year, eight members of the school support staff achieved their Adult Advanced Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning and (pictured) Mrs Jo Pepper and Mrs Annette Severn are shown after their graduation ceremony at Hull City Hall last October.

Hull Business Training Centre work closely with Goole High School to deliver the necessary training and support for the students to help them achieve their Apprenticeships whilst still working full time. The pupils at Goole High School gain by having committed staff developing their own potential and becoming more confident in their skills and knowledge.
